UB Mathematics Study Program Holds Guest Lecture with Yamaguchi University

Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Universitas Brawijaya (FMIPA-UB) in collaboration with Yamaguchi University, Japan held a Guest Lecture, (1-3/09/2021). Present as presenters are Prof. Fumihiko Hirosawa and Assoc. Prof. Xian Hua Han.

Dean of FMIPA Prof. Widodo, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D.Med.Sc in his speech said that this activity is one of the realizations of UB’s 3 in 1 program, namely lectures with three lecturers consisting of foreign lecturers, business people, and UB lecturers themselves.

“This activity is very important to develop student competence,” said Prof. Widodo.

He also emphasized that the collaboration between UB and Yamaguchi University is expected to run well, considering that there is an Independent Learning program on the Independent Campus.

“I hope UB students are motivated to take credit from universities abroad, especially at Yamaguchi University, because there are many programs offered,” he said.

Meanwhile, Yamaguchi University student representative Yuki Tsuruta introduced the Summer Course Program at the university.

“Many students from various countries take part in the Yamaguchi University Summer Course Program, because it offers a lot of activities. These include the Physics Class by the Yamaguchi Satellite Communications Center, and the Earth, Planetary Science and Biology Class. This program also invites students to know more about Japanese culture. For that, we hope that UB students can join this program,” explained Yuki.

Meanwhile, the Head of Mathematics Department Syaiful Anam, S.Si., MT., Ph.D also introduced various facilities owned by the Mathematics Department, including laboratories.

“I hope this activity can increase knowledge for students and researchers, as well as strengthen research collaboration between UB and Yamaguchi University,” he concluded. [Irene]
